[Important Notice] Fall Semester Opening Date & Suspension of Study Procedures for Ph.D. Students

The Fall Semester will officially begin on September 7 (Mon.). Please find the guidelines and procedures for the Suspension of Study below. Please ensure you follow the regulations to protect your rights:

💡  Regulations & Timelines

  •  Application Period:
    •  Before paying tuition & fees (Starting Aug. 1 at the earliest): All grades from the previous semester must be submitted.
    • After paying tuition & fees (From Sep. 7 to Dec. 31): Must be completed before the final semester examinations.

📝  Application Procedures

(Please follow the sequence strictly)

[Step 1] Email the Director for Prior Approval

Please email the Director, Professor Wen-Bin Su (wpsu@mail.ncku.edu.tw), and include the following details in your email:

  1. Name, Grade, and Class
  2.  Advisor’s Name (Fill “None” if you don’t have one)
  3.  Current academic progress (e.g., pre-proposal, qualification written/oral exam, non-thesis exam, progress report I/II, etc.)
  4. Reason for suspension (Please attach supporting documents if applicable)
  5.  Whether your advisor has agreed to this suspension (N/A if no advisor)
  6.  Other supplementary remarks

[Step 2] Online Application & Signatures

Upon receiving the Director’s approval reply, please proceed with the following:

  1.  Fill out the Suspension Application Form via the NCKU “Online Application System for Student Forms” and print it out.
  2.  Sign the form (Student’s signature).
  3. Obtain your Advisor’s signature (If you haven’t chosen an advisor, please get the tutor’s signature; new students may get the Director’s signature).

[Step 3] Department Office Processing & Director’s Signature

Please bring the application form (signed by you and your advisor/tutor) to the Institute Office. Once the Director grants the final physical signature, you can begin the school-leaving procedures.

[Step 4] Visit Main Campus Divisions in Person (Final Stage)

Finally, please visit the following offices on the main campus in person to complete the clearance:

  • Library:  Main Library at Cheng-Kung Campus
  • Cashier Division: 1st Floor, Yun-Ping Building
  • Student Affairs Division: 3rd Floor, Yun-Ping Building
  • Registrar Division:  Final handling unit for suspension
